The Incredible Hulk Seasons 3 and 4

Release Date:
Tuesday, June 3, 2008
Star Rating:
★★★★
The Skinny: This is a great show on all levels. If you loved the first two seasons, you'll love these, too. David Banner is still a quiet dude in search of a cure for his Hulk-iness. He still wanders the land and tries to stay calm to prevent the beast inside him from breaking free. But every episode he loses his cool…and his pants.

The Good: While it's clear these are being released to accompany the hype of the summer blockbuster, these two separately sold sets (Season 3 has 23 episodes and Season 4 has 18 episodes) stand alone, and won't be a waste of money if the movie turns out to be crap.

The Bad: The show only lasted five seasons, the fifth only making it to Episode 7. They should have just sucked it up and packaged the final two seasons together to complete the collection. They also could have put out a complete series box set, painted green, and we would have had a nerdgasm.

Best Extra: To promote the upcoming movie, both sets go behind the scenes of The Incredible Hulk, and include an interview with Edward Norton, as well as a free movie ticket! (We always make fun of these, but definitely plan on using them this time.) As for show-related extras, Season 3 has the "Remembering The Incredible Hulk: An American Classic" featurette and Season 4 has "Creating an Iconic Character: The Hulk" and a commentary on the two-part season opener. Encouraging, since Universal has historically left their TVD collections relatively light on special features.

Cool Package: We'd be remiss if we didn't mention the awesome lenticular box covers, which show Bruce going all Hulk-y when you move them in your hands. We could do this for hours. We're easily amused.
