We've always known that Donkey Kong is one of the most important aspects of life. It's about time someone made a documentary enforcing our belief. It doesn't matter whether or not you like classic video games, because this documentary is pure genius. The nerd quotient is off the chart, and the premise seems like a joke: the battle to claim the highest Donkey Kong score in the world. Current record holder, and perfect villain, is the long-haired, American-flag-tie-wearing video game legend Billy Mitchell. His opponent is Steve Wiebe, a middle school teacher and genuine good guy who just wants a fair shake at the record. The King of Kong has mystery, scandal, and an assortment of bizarre characters that makes it one of the best and most compelling documentaries we've ever seen. Michael Moore, are you listening? If so, get thee to an arcade.
