If you went into theaters last November banking on Revolutions to change your life, chances are it let you down. But a second viewing of this CG orgy on DVD proves that, if nothing else, the effects team earned its spot at the bottom of the credits. (Keanu, on the other hand, doesn’t deserve to keep his Ray-Bans.) Starting with a general making-of featurette that tours through the trilogy, the DVD serves up an endless barrage of digital porn. “CG Revolution” sits down with the army of special effects supervisors for the heavier sequences, from early computer builds to final product. “Super Burly Brawl” does the same, only specifically for the Neo–Agent Smith finale—including three simultaneous views: animated sketches, behind the cameras, and film version. If you have the patience, you can even brush up on Wachowski brothers history in “Before the Revolution,” an animated timeline explaining the Matrix’s origins. The only thing better would have been an explanation of the Matrix’s conclusion.
