Remember when CDs overtook cassette tapes, or even when DVD put VHS to rest? You had time to slowly upgrade your collection and get comfortable with the new format. Well, since the "Hi-Def Format War" was over quicker than Montreal Canadiens' post-season, it's understandable that people are a little confused and tentative about the whole "next-gen" format thing.
Luckily, Warner Home Video is here to help. They have instituted the Red2Blu program, which will allow anyone with an HD-DVD version of a WB movie (in the "red" box) to trade it in for a Blu-Ray copy of the same movie.
They've also kicked off their first ever Blu-Ray Customer Loyalty Program, which will hook you up with a free Blu-Ray movie for every five you buy. This from the studio that brought you little under-the-radar indie flicks like Dark Knight and Harry Potter.
Here's hoping other studios follow suit—do you really need Transformers on both HD-DVD and Blu-Ray? Of course not.
