Since we know time is money, here's a quick handy reference guide to recent DVD releases that should be on your radar and, in many cases, on your shelf. Immediately.

Adventureland (Blu-Ray)
Release Date: August 25
What it is: A nostalgia-tinged coming-of-age story set in the 80s and directed by Superbad's Greg Mottola. Jesse Eisenberg does the said coming-of-aging, while working at a rundown amusement park.
Why you need it: Not only sweetly funny, Adventureland kind of feels like your best summer memories put on film. The soundtrack is hilarious, and the cast solid across the board.

Batman: The Brave and the Bold Vol. 1
Release Date: August 25
What it is: Yes, it's a show for kids, but it also might be the best animated take on the Dark Knight yet.
Why you need it: "Need" is too strong, but if you want to see a genuinely clever, more lighthearted take on Batman (with a truckload of insider jokes in each episode), check this out.

Duplicity (Blu-Ray)
Release Date: August 25
What it is: Clive Owen and Julia Roberts trade banter as double-cross-happy corporate spies who share secrets and beds.
Why you need it: It's refreshing to see a movie made for adults that's snappy and fun and not turgid and boring. And Paul Giamatti continues being amazingly Paul Giamatti-esque.

The Informers
Release Date: August 25
What it is: Based on the Bret Easton Ellis novel, The Informers navigates the STD-riddled waters of Los Angeles in the 80s.
Why you need it: A great cast (Billy Bob Thornton, Mickey Rourke, Winona Ryder, Kim Basinger) and a frequently nude Amber Heard should be reason enough.
