1. The First Rumble : ”The hardest stuff to shoot was the group of fighters down in the club, because you want it to look real, but you don’t want to hurt anybody. But people get tired and sloppy. On the first day of fighting, one of the actors dislocated his finger on the first take. The medic came over and said, ‘Oh, no problem,’ and popped it right back in.”

2. Meatloaf's Moobs: ”There was this giant debate about what his bitch tits should look like. I thought that we needed to go for the double D’s. The studio execs said, ‘He doesn’t have to have nipples.’ And I said, ‘Yeah, he’s gotta have nipples like manhole covers.’ It’s enjoyable to make the people who are supposed to be overseeing you cry.”

3. The Gloved One: “Before we shot the scene where Ed Norton’s character walks in on Tyler Durden having sex, I saw Brad Pitt mumbling to himself with this big smile. He says, ‘I want giant rubber dishwashing gloves.’ So we found these horrific dirty gloves the painting department had used, and he goes, ‘They’re perfect.’ Nothing was out-of-bounds.”

4. The Final Showdown: ”The fight scene was originally written as a gunfight. We wanted to make fun of action movies like Die Hard. It was funny in concept, but it was too difficult to execute. How do you get out of the way of a bullet you shot at yourself? We had to start all over, so we came in over a weekend, had this huge building to ourselves, and just kind of free-balled it.”
