Before Jesus was the cause of, and solution to, many of our larger crises, he was just a carpenter trying to make it in the rough and tumble BC. And who better to tell the story of our savior's last 12 hours on earth (at a pace…that seems to unfold…in real time) than the star of Bird on a Wire? Mel Gibson squeezed the Bible for all the blood and violence the MPAA would allow and cashed in on Christ much like Jim Bakker in his prime. Now he's no doubt in search of more, but the first edition of the controversial film hits DVD sales racks with no special features—not even a hidden Easter egg! If all you want is the original film in order to chime in on the worldwide discourse, this DVD will suffice. But rest assured, there will be a special edition. And we only pray that release marks the end of all this pointless controversy so Gibson can get back to what he does best: graphic on-screen violence with no significant meaning.
