The Sarah Silverman Program: Season One

Release Date:
Tuesday, October 2, 2007
Star Rating:
★★★★
Like key lime pie and ball gags, Sarah Silverman's dry, edgy, and often extremely racist brand of comedy is somewhat of an acquired taste. And that's what we love about her. The first season of her program does what our other favorite shows do—like It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia—and makes fun of stuff that civilized folk are generally afraid to even talk about. The episodes are great, even if they lose that initial shock value with repeated viewings, and the extras are refreshingly creative. It's amazing how much better commentaries can be if the people doing them are talented and funny rather than boring and self-absorbed—that's right QT, we said it. We would rate this set even higher than we already have if there wasn't' so much potential for viewers just not getting it. It takes a certain kind of guy to laugh at a half hour of nonstop AIDS jokes.
