Space Ghost Coast to Coast and Harvey Birdman set the table for [adult swim] to dominate the cartoon demographic consisting of adults, potheads, and adult potheads, but while those shows delivered consistent laughs, they also spawned a bunch of hit-or-miss offspring. The Venture Bros., featuring a pair of dimwitted brothers constantly on the lookout for mayhem, will keep you entertained—just don't expect it to reel you in. The first season's DVD offers 13 full episodes, including rather ordinary commentary tracks with the show's creators and a handful of extra scenes that weren't good enough for Sunday late night. You can also trace the show's humble beginnings with the pilot episode and finally have someone around for the holidays on the bonus episode, "A Very Venture Christmas."
