Thumbsucker

Thumbsucker features big names (Vincent D'Onofrio, Vince Vaughn, and Keanu Reeves) beefing up the comedy in a quirky script, but the extras on the DVD skip the stars and focus on the film's subject matter. The "Behind the Scenes" featurette covers suburban family dysfunction with on-location footage and the cast and crew's thoughts on ADD. (Unfortunately, we don't remember how they felt, we were already thinking about the next featurette.) If you're still looking to nerd out, you can also catch an extensive conversation between director Mike Mills and Walter Kirn (author of Thumbsucker, the book) discussing how they collaborated on this long, awkward high school moment disguised as an independent flick.
