The Skinny: After moving in to a house in the woods, Hector (Karra Elejalde) is attacked by a mysterious figure wrapped in bloody bandages. What follows is a time-travel mindfuck that makes Lost look as complicated as a Judy Blume novel.

The Good: Timecrimes may not end as well as it starts, but it's got enough going for it that committing yourself to watching it is in now way a waste of time. It makes the most of its obviously puny budget, and you'll find its central idea as clever as the filmmaker obviously finds it.

The Bad: Not to spoil things, but the movie starts to get a little lost (and, in a way, Lost) after the initial set-up. That is to say, it seems to be filling time more than filling in answers. And the low budget quality of the film itself will not be treated kindly by higher-end TVs or DVD players.

Best Extra: "The Making of Timecrimes" is worth a look, because it doesn't feel as slickly hollow as some of those E! features posing as DVD extras you find on other movie's discs.

Buy, Rent, or Ignore: This is rental, and worth a look for off-the-beaten path time travel shenanigans.
