Incredible surround sound systems and ultra-sharp liquid crystal displays are good reasons to sit indoors and watch DVDs, but here's a better one: Transporter 2. In the follow-up to the 2002 action flick, mercenary hero Frank Martin (Jason Statham) is in Miami, where the six-year-old boy he's looking after is kidnapped by dudes with bad Russian accents who want to use the kid to unleash a killer virus on the world. (Still with us?) This cut-rate thriller uses every trick in the book to overcome its written-by-monkeys plot—you've got car chases, amped-up music, deafening sound effects, endless slo-mo explosions, and so many intense squinty-eyed close-ups of Statham that Steven Seagal should sue for copyright infringement. This would all be passable hokum if it weren't so insultingly stupid to the audience. Check it out if you're feeling brave, but why waste $10 on another summer sequel no one demanded when you can eat all the snacks you want in your underpants at home?
