You’ve gotta give the Mouse House credit—they deliver when it comes to packaging their DVDs. While we’re aware that not many of you ran out to buy Snow White when that two-disc set was released, it was a shining example of just how exhaustive supplemental material could be. And now, with the 20th anniversary edition of Tron, they do it again. Other filmmakers and studios take note.

As both a nice historical document (look how far CGI has come) and an entertaining film in its own right, Tron is a must-have for movie buffs, video-game geeks, potheads, and, um, Jeff Bridges fans. The special features range from quaint (the shot-in-the-’80s documentaries capture the wide-eyed enthusiasm that greeted coin-op games and home computers) to thorough and informative (the animation tests and lost “love scene” are great). There’s even teasing hints of the long-rumored Tron 2.0 sprinkled throughout the interviews and features. If you don’t own this, buy it. If you bought the original Tron DVD, sell it and buy this one.
