After wowing the critics on the festival circuit, this South African import has nabbed an Oscar nomination for Best Foreign Language Film. (And rightly so.) Although subtitled, Tsotsi is an emotionally charged film about youth gone haywire that will grab your attentionno matter what language you speak. After a botched crime, a young gang leader inadvertently ends up with a baby. Instead of ditching the infant, he cares for it, revealing the desperate nature of his own worsening situation. As his actions careen out of control, the film poignantly portrays the people who have been tossed aside by society. Sure, you might have to travel a long way to find the only theater that's playing this movie, but do yourself a favor and find it. Its worth the time and effort.
