If you were a Twin Peaks fanatic during its peak (sorry about that one), then you need this. If you were a casual fan, or know one, you’ll really like this. Hell, even if you didn’t like the show, it’s still worth a purchase just for the hottest lineup of female starlets TV has ever boasted: We’re talking Lara Flynn Boyle (before Jack soiled her), Sherilyn Fenn (before Krispy Kreme spoiled her), and Mädchen Amick. Not to mention the wildly sexy Joan Chen and Peggy Lipton. It’s also a blast to watch Kyle MacLachlan when he was a fresh talent, yet to be worn down to a Hollywood nub by Showgirls and those Sex and the City coozes. Throw in some really intricate story lines, backwards walking and talking midgets, and amazing production quality, and you’ve got one of the (Comic Book Shop guy’s voice) best…shows…ever!
However, like the show itself, this set has some flaws. The most disturbing problem: They didn’t include the fucking pilot! That’s a pretty glaring omission, considering that’s when you meet all these freaks in the first place. And, as the title of this box set says, it’s only the first season, which means you don’t find out who killed Laura. Since that happens during the 2nd season, you’re gonna need to buy that one when it comes out, too (even though the show pretty much went to shit afterwards).
