Sure, this movie is surprisingly dull—but guns, babes, and hot vampire-on-werewolf action? Somewhere, Bela Lugosi is kicking himself for not thinking of this idea first. If you happen to recover from the draining story and lacking action, not to mention Kate Beckinsale’s skin-hugging bodysuit, take a bite out of the supplemental material and see what could have been. “Creature Effects” highlights all of the cool stunt sequences and hairy villains from the film in a montage devoid of dragging plot development. Check out cast workouts and discover the dangerous wedgies to be suffered during wire work. There’s even a tribute to all of the crew’s tireless sparring sessions with Beckinsale, which nearly yielded a believable action heroine. But while we applaud their efforts, they merely underscore the shame of all the blood, sweat, and fang poured into a vampire flick that, ultimately, sucked.
