Unforgiven [Blu-ray Book]

Release Date:
Star Rating:
10 out of 10

Best western.

The Pitch: Set in the old West, a reformed killer--Clint Eastwood as William Muny--comes out of retirement to kill some men who cut up a prostitute’s face.

What It Really Is: The greatest western of all time. Gene Hackman as the sadistic sheriff Little Bill and Morgan Freeman as Muny’s old pal along for the ride perfectly compliment Eastwood’s intensity. It’s got revenge, redemption, humor, violence and we never get tired of watching it. Ready-Made Press Blurb: “You’ll never forgive yourself if you don’t buy this Blu-ray!”

Does Blu-ray Make a Difference? Yes. This is the second Unforgiven Blu-ray, and while the quality is pretty much the same, this version has a better case--one of those hardback digibook dealies--and some more special features.

Special Features: Commentary by Eastwood biographer Richard Schickel; four documentaries: “All on Accounta Pullin’ a Trigger,” “Eastwood & Co.: Making Unforgiven,” “Eastwood...A Star” and “Eastwood on Eastwood”; Maverick episode “Duel at Sundown,” theatrical trailer; 40-page digibook.

Who’s It For: People who love westerns, people who hate westerns, people who are indifferent to westerns, people in general.

Studio: Warner
