The Skinny: It's the Man in Black's life, extended by 18 minutes. There's love, pain, triumph, and confusion. And that's before you even decide whether to buy a third version of this movie on DVD.
Reminded Us Of Ray, La Bamba, Coal Miner's Daughter, Hustle & Flow
The Good: The additional 18 minutes are mostly just the deleted scenes from previous releases of the DVD reinserted into the film. But if you like this movie specifically, and supersizing in general, you'll be happy they're there.
The Bad: The featurettes promise more of the real Cash for true fans, but most of the audiovisuals that support commentary by guys like Kris Kristofferson, Willie Nelson, Merle Haggard, and leading Johnny Cash scholar Henry Rollins (buh?) feature movie clips of Joaquin Phoenix. Which is like talking about Heath Ledger, but running video of Val Kilmer.
