What Women Want

Despite the fact that it follows the When Harry Met Sally game plan play by play, What Women Want isn’t exactly terrible. Mel’s likable and the story is entertaining, though we are close to having our fill of Helen Hunt (all of the other actresses in Hollywood better make sure their addresses are printed clearly, ’cause Helen’s obviously been getting everyone’s mail). Of course, when you find out what’s running through women’s heads, it’s not really groundbreaking stuff: Women worry about their weight? Nawww… But is that really all they think about? This flick would have us think so. What about world peace? Beauty contestants seem concerned enough. Regardless, What Women Want is a decent date movie, as long as your gal doesn’t mind being insulted by the shallow presentation of women. Just listen to her closely when she talks about it over dinner afterwards, ’cause she’ll be keeping score.
