It’s been 15 years since Jessica Rabbit expedited puberty for a generation of toon fans, and now she and her hubby are getting the anniversary treatment on this two-disc Vista Series set. Obviously, Roger Rabbit was more than a children’s movie, and the boundless extras included in this set stress exactly how many grown-ups put two full years of their lives into this film. Before-and-after features run early test cells alongside the finished product. “Toon Stand-ins” depicts live actors rehearsing opposite crew-member-held plastic figures so that, when the animation was added, it would blend seamlessly with the live-action shots. But while all of this intricate work is impressive, the crowning jewel may very well lie on Disc 1. Listen to voice of Roger Rabbit Charles Fleischer discuss his role as if it were Shakespeare…then listen to the rest of the crew laugh uncontrollably while he delivers his dialogue in a half-assed rabbit costume. Good to see we’re not the only ones duty-bound to wear a fluffy tail to work.
