The world is not kind to actors who try their hand at music and dont have an ass like Jennifer Lopez. William Shatner, John Travolta, and Keanu Reeves are among the many whove discovered this the hard way, and Jeff Bridges is set to join their dubious club with his debut, Be Here Soon. Its not that Bridges lacks talent. The star of such likeable flicks as The Big Lebowski and The Last Picture Show is a passable musician with a decent voice, but the songs here are simply awful. Stuck somewhere between limp, blue-eyed soul and lame hippie music, they lack any real direction or purpose. Bridges takes credit (or blame) for writing most of these forgettable ditties, and a cast of collaborators that includes ex-Doobie Brother Michael McDonald and ex-con David Crosby do little to help resurrect them. Its not as bad as, say, listening to John Goodman sing the blues, but its just as unnecessary.
