Shelby Lynne is so hot, wed listen even if she sang the words on cereal boxes. But her achingly soulful major-label debut, inspired by a Jerry Springerworthy life, actually moves us on its own merit. Lynnes slinky voice drips with whiskey, cigarettes, and seduction, and with strings and horns dancing around it, you can practically smell all three. Shes the trailer parks answer to Aretha Franklin: a girl wholl spill her guts, drink you under the table, then crawl under there with you. Go with the flow.
