We give the French lots of shit—and they deserve it—but we’ll give credit where it’s due. Frog duo Air couldn’t rock their way out of a cellophane bag, but their atmospheric electropop is pretty damn cool. Unlike their wanky, hipper-than-thou contemporaries, Air doesn’t get by on technological gizmos alone—they write actual songs, and good ones, too. Beck even stops by to lend some psychedelic weirdness to “The Vagabond.” Mostly, Air sounds like Pink Floyd kickin’ it on the dark side of the moon.
