Kasey Chambers grew up in the Australian Outback, about as far from the heart of country music as you can get without boarding the space shuttle, but she understands its power better than most. Her second album serves up country-rock stomps and twangy tearjerkers that sound too weathered to be coming from a 25-year-old. With production assistance from her brother and her father, the Chambers clan may come off like a weird prairie town Partridge Family, but Kasey doesn’t need any help convincing us she’s the real deal.
