Even when electronica was all the rage—those few days in 1997 before Madonna dropped by to dry-hump the genre’s synthetic carcass—the Sneaker Pimps were pretty much also-rans. With their one minor stateside hit, “6 Underground” (check your copy of The Saint soundtrack), they instantly had kids everywhere asking, “Yo, aren’t they that band with the cute chick?” Yes, they were, and in the smartest marketing move since New Coke, they’ve ditched the cute chick, making their act both dated and dull. Sorry, Pimps, but don’t flag us down if you ain’t got nothin’ to sell.
