The Supersuckers are mostly known as the loudest, ass-kickinest, drug-doinest rock band on the planet, but this, their first live album, shows off their, er, softer side. The loosey-goosey Mustve Been Live is culled from a handful of country shows the Supersuckers have done through the years. The bands affection for the dark, grizzled world of classic country music has bubbled to the surface in the past on their collaborations with Willie Nelson and Steve Earle, and warm, twangy, laid-back treats like Roamin Round and Roadworn and Weary make it clear that the affection is genuine. The Captain finds them picking up the tempo a bit for a Social Distortionstyle romp, while the catalog of decadence detailed on Hungover Together and Non-Addictive Marijuana are evidence the suckers arent really going all that soft. Theres probably about five more tracks here than are really necessary, but the Supersuckers have always dealt in excesswhy should this record be any different?
