Good news from Down Under: Teen rockers Silverchair have grown up and traded in Seattle-style grunge for California sun. For their surprisingly nifty fourth album, they’ve hooked up with one-time Beach Boys composer Van Dyke Parks, who injects cool string arrangements throughout. Occasionally, the ol’ earnestness bug bites singer Daniel Johns, but rockers like “World Upon Your Shoulders” should please fans of Pink Floyd, Pearl Jam, or Teenage Fanclub. How do we get Mr. Parks to infiltrate Creed?
