Surprisingly, electronica stalwart Underworld finds itself reduced to a duo after the exit of DJ Darren Emerson. More surprising is that they’re concocting some of their most soulful music yet. Songs like “Little Speaker” and “Two Months Off” thump harder than “Born Slippy,” the group’s 1996 breakout from the Trainspotting soundtrack. Not everything has teeth, though—woozy chants and the odd minimalist number make us work to enjoy their groovy extended holiday.
