Third Eye Blind’s Stephan Jenkins was probably that high school smart ass who hid obscenities behind fake coughs (“hacksshole!”). Now he buries unsavory subjects behind sing-along power pop (like the tales of speed and oral sex he sneaked into 1997’s harmless-sounding “Semi-Charmed Life”). On Third’s third, Jenkins remain as incorrigible as ever, cooing, for example, “I wanna stay right here and go down on you for an hour,” in the high-flying “Blinded.” Too bad it can’t elevate the songs beyond disposable, radio-friendly throwaways.
