As hip-hop’s rawest MC, Ghostface Killah raps as if he were at the bottom of a well, desperately clawing his way out. The gangly Wu-Tanger’s third solo effort is an end-to-end stunner, thick with grizzled soul and battle-worn verse. While most rappers hide their feelings, Ghost keeps it intimate, crying over an unfaithful mate on “Never Be the Same Again” in between the fantastical thuggery of tracks like “Flowers” and “Theodore.” In the words of another master, this one’s all killah, no fillah.
