Distillers singer-guitarist Brody Armstrong loves to piss off punk purists. First she divorced Rancids Tim Armstrong just as the Distillers second album blew up, invoking accusations of careerism. Now she records an album that veers away from the bands trademark three-chord thrash toward more pop-friendly sounds. Armstrong still howls with the wounded fury of a pre-glitz Courtney Love, but the Distillers guitar stomps avoid stomping over the melodies. Fuck the purists.
