Mutual fondness for good weed notwithstanding, the idea of Willie Nelson making a reggae album is a little surprising. What is more surprising is how well it works—Nelson’s warm, croaky voice sounds right at home with the island grooves. Naturally, the rhythms are flavored with country twang, but the overall vibe feels more like a tropical ocean breeze than a dusty squall.
