Diamond Dave

Release Date:
07/08/2003
Artist:
David Lee Roth
Star Rating:
If you hoped that death would mercifully claim you before you heard David Lee Roth stumble his way through Jimi Hendrix’s “If 6 Was 9,” the Doors’ “Soul Kitchen,” and the Beatles’ “Tomorrow Never Knows” (or as Roth lists it on the album, “That Beatles Tune”), then Diamond Dave comes as really bad news. This blues-rock covers album, which opens with three—count ’em, three—Savoy Brown numbers, doesn’t rock enough for Van Halen fans and isn’t intentionally funny enough for Weird Al fans (both of them). Any word on that Van Halen reunion?
