Dignity and Shame

Fingers’ frontman Eric Bachmann (Archers of Loaf) has delivered depressing tunes of self-destruction with a voice blending Tom Waits with an indie-rock Neil Diamond. But now, dammit, Bachmann seems to be getting laid regularly. Luckily, the love songs here mostly involve love lost, or at least love caught spying through a window. In between is melancholy music best enjoyed in a dark room, alone, fist firmly clenching a whiskey bottle.
