Hoobastank’s last album was huge, but we bet you couldn’t pick the band members out of a police lineup. They’d probably insist that they let their music do the talking, but the fact is their music doesn’t do much to distinguish them, either. Their latest spikes radio-ready hard rock with touches of Journey (ouch), Rush (double ouch), and Jethro Tull (please stop). There’s something wrong when even your tunes about Scott Weiland (“If I Were You”) and fucking (“Inside of You”) sound polite and unthreatening.
