Fever to Tell

Ah, sweet hype. This Brooklyn trio is everybody’s safe bet for 2003, and their impressive first full-length indicates why: It’s clever, decadent, and colossally stupid all at the same time. Jittery guitar lines make their songs sound like Blondie shoved through a shredder, while frontwoman Karen O’s sleazy come-ons sound like epileptic fits. Short on songwriting chops but long on attitude, the Yeahs are ready to rock. Just don’t take them too seriously.
