A Jackknife to a Swan

It’s admirable the way the BossTones stuck to their guns after the ska-punk boat had sailed, but there’s not much likable about their new songs, which sound so much like their old songs you wonder why they bothered. “I Want My City Back” works up a decent lather over the yuppification of Boston, but only the blues throwaway “Seven Ways to Sunday” fucks with the blueprint. The BossTones may not be trend-hoppers, but are they better for being stubborn bastards?
