Led Zeppelin's John Paul Jones Addresses His Public

lz_web.jpgThe back and forth in the Will They Or Won't They Rock n' Roll saga that is 2008 Led Zeppelin has reached a tantalizing new stage in the form of a recent statement by Zep bassist and keyboardist (and string arranger on REM's Automatic For the People) John Paul Jones, who dropped some Moby Dick-like bombshells to BBC Radio Devon over the weekend.

Led Zeppelin, as we all know, reunited in December 2007 for a surprisingly strong set that convinced fans, and apparently Jones, Jimmy Page and Jason Bonham, that the band should continue the comeback. Plant has been notably down on the idea, arguing that a continued reunion would tarnish the legacy. He also can't be thrilled about having to hit the same notes he hit in his twenties and thirties.

But the speculation has persisted, with rumors suggesting that the "other three" were thinking more and more seriously about the idea of actually using one of the stand-in vocalists they've been practicing with.

Which brings us to this weekend. While speaking at a guitar show in southwestern England, John Paul Jones revealed that new singers are being auditioned, and that new material is also possible. Let's take a look at his words and read between the lines:

"We are trying out a couple of singers."
