MC Lars, the guy who probably made the first rap video on
the retelling of Moby Dick, loves Sega's upcoming game
Bayonetta so much, he's made a rap song about it.
While it's doubtful you'll find this playing at your local nightclub, hearing a hip-hop jam
not made by bickering multimillionaire musicians is refreshing enough to warrant a listen. MC Lars started mixing beats on his laptop when he was 15 and caught the ear of local record labels, culminating in an EP released in 2009 titled
This Giant Robot Kills. (The likes of "Weird Al" Yankovic, Pierre Bouvier of Simple Plan, and Jonathan Coulton colabbed on the album.)
"Reaping Beauty" is Lars' take on the game's protagonist, Bayonetta, a witch who has escaped hell and must fight through hordes of ghouls and ghosts to get back home. Thankfully the MC chose
Bayonetta and not
Modern Warfare 2—we already know what three minutes of screaming Xbox Live children and exploding bombs sound like.
You can hear the song below, (legally) download the mp3
here, or head over to
his official site for more shiny Internet trinkets.
