Rock stars are known for being childish, immature, and rambunctious. For being reckless. For not taking responsibility for their actions.
For behaving like rock stars.
Taking responsibility is exactly what Motley Crue bassist Nikki Sixx finally did, two weeks after he went on a verbal tirade against a female Crue fan at a San Diego show. Sixx was just minding his own business, saying hello to the crowd, when a water bottle came flying by; Sixx had to duck to miss it. Not cool, right? Nope. Also not cool: the fact that Nikki Sixx had thrown the very same bottle AT the crowd seconds earlier.
Events went down thusly:
1. Sixx is rappin' with the crowd. "Hello motherfuckers...", etc.
2. Sixx tosses a water bottle into the crowd.
3. Ten seconds later, the same water bottle comes back at him (around 00:47 of the below video).
4. Sixx, not realizing the bottle was the one he initially threw, goes on a foul-mouthed (obviously) tirade, berating the motherfuckers who he believes are responsible.
5. Later, he sees that the perp was a female, so naturally Sixx calls her a fucking whore, and a bitch. He (pithily) notes that the woman is fucking crying.
6. Sixx intros the next song. Life goes on.
This week, Sixx finally got around to apologizing:
"There was a recent event at one of our shows where someone threw a bottle at me during my speech and I got pretty pissed. The way it happened is, I threw a bottle of water to some fans and didn't realize the very bottle I threw to the fans was thrown back at me. I have to admit, bands get pretty pissed when people throw shit at you onstage. I didn't even think it was the same bottle, so with that being said, I'd like to say I'm sorry to the fan who threw the bottle back at me."
There, that wasn't so difficult, was it Nikki?
