Maybe we’re being overly sensitive here, but there’s something about menacing Germans barking orders that doesn’t give us the warm fuzzies. We’re hardly put at ease by their jackbooted rhythms, either, though it’s hard not to be overwhelmed by the sheer sonic force of this, their third studio effort. Furious guitar assaults and bombastic orchestration set a dramatic, postapocalyptic mood, but unless you’re a junior high student with anger issues, you’ll find it all a cartoonish novelty. What’s German for “chill out, dude”?
