Slicker Than Your Average

Credit British R&B singer Craig David with, if nothing else, truth in advertising. His slinky soul workouts are nothing if not slick, and this sophomore effort proudly polishes the pop-friendly sound of his multiplatinum debut to an even higher shine. Horns punch in and out of the title track amid slinky grooves and turntable breaks as David performs vocal backflips without even breaking a sweat. This is classic sex-me-up R&B, though sometimes it’s a fight to keep slick from becoming sterile. Fortunately, it’s a fight David usually wins.
