Their name may be unwieldy as all hell, but it’s appropriate: Trail of Dead (easier to fit on a T-shirt than AYWKUBTTOD) play blistering guitar rock that leaves those in its wake feeling breathless, stunned, and a little violated. While careening between catharsis and outright chaos, the tracks on their third album never lose sight of their anthemic melodies, making the bizarre Texas four-piece sound, at times, like U2 being set upon by a pack of ravenous coyotes. It’s death and destruction you can hum along to.
