Stand Still Look Pretty

We never really had much use for Michelle Branch—she had a few pleasant acoustic girl-pop hits, but we figured she’d be waiting tables at Denny’s by now. So it’s a hell of a nice surprise to find her reborn here, alongside fellow singer-songwriter Jessica Harp, as the Wreckers. Their breezy, country-pop-flavored debut isn’t exactly hard-hitting, but their tunes are tight and their voices weave a pretty enchanting, Dixie Chicks–y spell. No need to stand still or look pretty to get us to pay attention.
