The Electric Mile

In an era when every act is a Frankenstein’s monster of musical influences, the blues-meets-hip-hop of G Love and Special Sauce ain’t all that special. Now they’re so busy stealing from other artists—including Peter Tosh, De La Soul, and Rage Against the Machine—that they have no identity of their own. G & Co. occasionally stop aping and find their own dippy, sunny groove (“Night of the Living Dead,” “Sara’s Song”), but too often The Electric Mile wanders aimlessly around well-worn territory.
