“Take your time, you and me gonna be here for a while,” promises Mos Def on The New Danger. No kidding. In his first album in five years, the talented Brooklyn rapper forgoes simple things like “hooks” and “editing,” allowing such tracks as “Modern Marvel” to stretch out for nearly 10 minutes. We really only woke up during the ghetto-blasting rap-rock assault of “Freaky Black” and “Zimzallabim.” Otherwise, it’s mos definitely a snore.
