Wow, that was a quick stay in the spotlight for the Vines, wasnt it? One buzzed-about album, one messy follow-up, and now here they are on album number three, already all washed-up. Except the surprisingly anarchic Vision Valley is actually their best outing yet. Its less than a revelation, but on Gross Out, their Aussie grunge-punk assault kicks with more genuine fury than it ever has, while Candy Days adds an inviting garage-pop bounce to the mix. Maybe its not too late to save their careers.
