To plug in or not to plug in? Foo Fighters do both on their fifth record, In Your Honor, a double-disc set divided between an all-electric album packed with big choruses and guitar solos and…an acoustic album, including a jazzy little number with Norah Jones (yes, that Norah Jones). “It’s not like we’re doing Slayer’s Reign in Blood then moving to a Celine Dion record,” says frontman Dave Grohl. “We’ve always experimented.” Don’t worry, he hasn’t lost his mind or gone completely soft—the Foo keep rockin’ arenas on tunes like “DOA,” while providing a soundtrack for knockin’ boots on the lite-metal “Over and Out.” There’s something for everyone, especially Grohl. “I’m obsessed with music, whether it’s Norah Jones or Nine Inch Nails or Killing Joke or fucking Pete Yorn,” he says. “The idea is to broaden yourself. When I die I don’t want to feel like I didn’t do something.” Now Grohl can die happy.
