This Week In Weird Sports: Pudding Throwing

The World Black Pudding Throwing Championship
When: Sunday September 12
Where: Yorkshire England
What Is It:
The English, well-known for their culinary delicacies, are big fans of something called "black pudding," which isn't anything like the tapioca or chocolate puddings that American children gobble by the bucket-full.  Blood pudding is actually dried blood mixed with filler, congealed and formed into sausage-esque links. And on 12th of September all of England descends on the tiny town of Ramsbottom to watch the World Black Pudding Throwing Championships, where skilled athletes (i.e. drunk guys) try to knock Yorkshire puddings of a pole by throwing black puddings at it. The symbolism of the event pays tribute to the "brave men and women who repelled raiding parties from Yorkshire."

This event isn't on ESPN, but if you hate puddings (or love puddings, it doesn't matter) and you're in Northern England, I highly suggest checking it out.
