Our "Zooey Deschanel is Single Again" Playlist

Well folks, if a single Kimmy K doesn't get you all excited, then maybe the recent news of quirky queen Zooey Deschanel's split from husband and Death Cab for Cutie frontman Ben Gibbard will. News of the separation circulated the web last night around the same time as fans tuned into a new phallic-themed episode of Deschanel's FOX show, New Girl. We have a  feeling the She & Him singer will be just fine, and as for Ben Gibbard? Eh, who cares?

Whether you're celebrating another crooning cutie back on the market or mourning an indie music tragedy, pull on a knitted cap from Etsy, grab a PBR, light a candle (in an empty wine bottle), and listen to some indie breakup songs that we'll never admit to having heard before.

1. Death Cab for Cutie, "You Can Do Better Than Me"

She could probably do better than us too.

2. The Shins, "Gone for Good"

Listen to this after watching Garden State for the 80th time. Why can't we all just find an epileptic Natalie Portman to share our lives with?

3. Death Cab for Cutie, "Someday You Will Be Loved"

More like 'Someday You'll Have a Hit Show, Film Career, and Successful Band and Will Be Too Busy For Me.'

4. She & Him, "Lingering Still"

This ain't nothin' a (curiously Los Angeles-grown) country twang can't fix.

5. Rilo Kiley, "Breakin' Up"

Listen to with fair trade espresso and LOTS of cow bell.

6. Tegan and Sara, "Call It Off"

Two lesbian twins have never left us more disappointed than now.
